EcoCommerce™
EcoCommerce is an economic framework for buyers and sellers to exchange values for ecological services or ecoservices as well as identifying roles for supporting stakeholders. This framework provides a platform for ecoservice valuations and includes the means for clean water, productive soil, wildlife, carbon sequestration and other attributes that traditionally have not been included within the economic system to be identified and valued.
The EcoCommerce Company (aka Ag Resource Strategies, LLC) provides the knowledge, expertise and partnerships needed to construct this new economic framework at the scale that is desired. Developing the framework and components will commence from a broad view and encompass the entire spectrum.
- Curriculum for university graduate and undergraduate programs.
- Training for specific skill bases required for EcoCommerce activities.
- Portfolio frameworks for multiple ecosystems (i.e. AGEQA™ Platform).
- Interfacing and aggregating ecoservices and relationships from AGEQA™ Platform and other assurance frameworks into EcoCommerce structure.

EcoCommerce 101: Adding an ecological dimension to the economy
A Market Signal for the Environment... ....will create a New Economics for a New Millennium
In his book, EcoCommerce 101, Timothy Gieseke envisions the next Green Revolution supporting both economic and ecological worlds. To do so, the market must generate a signal that demands ecoservices, such as clean water, air and habitat, along with the demand for food, fiber and bio-fuels. As governments and non-profit organizations struggle with defining "sustainability", EcoCommerce 101 recognizes that as economic participants, you and I, always have and always will define "sustainability". Using agriculture as the prime example, he employs actual and visionary examples of how an "ecoservice" market signal and an "invisible hand" can assure that our planet that will provide all our needs for the next millennium.
In reading EcoCommerce 101, you will discover:
- - The Economy is actually a subset of the Ecology, not the other way around
- - "Natural Capital" of nature is as valuable to the economy as our man-made factories
- - Engaging in EcoCommerce will be as natural as engaging in our economic system
- - New career opportunities will abound when this New Economics is unlocked
- - The second Green Revolution will be more than just about food production
- - How "Sustainability" will be defined by consumers, society, industries, government, non-profits and retailers in a unified manner.
Gieseke, a farmer, an ecologist, a business owner and a lecturer, and previously both a government staff and policy analyst, creates a language platform for this new economic reality. He discusses the need for revolutionary types of indices for measuring sustainability. This thoroughly researched and clearly presented volume is a work that should be looked at seriously by all concerned with the continuity of our resources.
